Introduction

WORLDview360 @ South West is a signature programme by the South West Community Development Council (CDC) to engage our youths in Singapore to think globally and contribute locally - provide an educational and engaging platform for discussion of topical issues.

An annual event, inaugurated in 2002, WORLDview360 had engaged 1500 youths in discussions and actions for themes such as 'The Ideal Singapore Education System', 'Services: The Singapore Way' and most recently, 'Social Enterprise'.

The theme for this year is WORLDview360: "Youth for Earth". Global warming and extreme climate change phenomena such as floods and rising sea level are pressing issues facing the world today. In response to the call for environment protection around the world, WORLDview360: "Youth for Earth" is on environmental protection set in a Singapore context. It aims to challenge our youths to answer a simple question – "What can our youths do to help protect our environment?"

Youth for Earth will be a competition opened to all secondary school students in Singapore. With a hands-on approach to create, plan and execute their very own environmental projects in their schools or community over a 4-week period, the competition seeks creative projects to bring about environmental benefits to the community. The project will culminate in a Grand Finale, where selected projects will be presented to our Guest of Honour and distinguished panelists

For the first time, South West CDC is proud to provide an opportunity for students across all educational institutions in Singapore to come together and interact. With pre-tertiary and tertiary students taking on roles as mentors to guide the secondary students on their projects, this year’s WORLDview360 envisages to be even more educational, fun and exciting for the youths and community.
